On 3rd November, the Korea Exchange (KRX) and the S&P Dow Jones Indices concluded a commercial agreement primarily to cooperate on global marketing for the KRX indices and to jointly develop new indices.
Through the agreement, the S&P was delegated by the KRX the authority to conclude an index licensing contract on the KRX Indices (e.g. KOSPI 200) with overseas clients including institutional investors in global markets such as North America, Europe and Hong Kong. In addition, the S&P is to be engaged in marketing for promoting the KRX indices as well as in monitoring any unauthorized use.
In addition, the KRX and the S&P agreed to jointly develop new indices based on S&P’s global index methodology in order to address the diversifying domestic demand for indirect investments in a timely manner.
