On 31st January 2018, the Jordanian Securities Commission (JSC) began receiving applications for licenses for new companies wishing to operate in the Amman Stock Market (ASE) and in foreign stock exchanges for the first time in more than 10 years. The Authority suspended applications for a license to practice on the ASE since the beginning of 2007.
The Commission decided to grant new licenses to two new companies who submitted their foreign investment in full and who satisfied the capital requirements.
The acceptance of these applications was made in accordance with the Securities Law No. (18) of 2017 and the Regulation of Foreign Exchange Regulation No. (1) of 2017, in addition to the issuance of instructions regulating the work of financial services companies wishing to deal with foreign exchanges.
The JSC called on financial companies that were engaged in dealing in foreign stock exchanges prior to the introduction of the 2017 Regulation to correct their situation and obtain the required licenses required to operate as a Jordanian Company which is listed on a Foreign Exchange.
