The Italian regulator CONSOB has extended its short selling ban on Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.P.A. (ISIN: IT0005092165) until the end of the trading day of 21 January 2016, following a decline in share value of 14.3% in trading on 19 January 2016.

The ban was adopted pursuant to Article 23, para. 2 of the EC Regulation on “Short Selling”, in response to a price drop in the share price exceeding a 5% threshold during the trading day.
