The Taipei Exchange (TPEx) has announced that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BSE, India. The agreement is designed to further the development of securities markets in Taiwan and India, encourage the sharing of information, and foster new opportunities for the Exchanges and their respective issuers.
After a preliminary bilateral meeting in February 2016, a consensus was reached to facilitate greater cross-market investment which in turn paved the way for the MOU. The two sides believe that closer cooperation can complement and facilitate the rapid development of both financial markets and further enhance the economic ties between Taiwan and India.
Closer ties between TPEx and BSE will bring several opportunities. These include the cross-listing of companies or products to facilitate portfolio diversification for investors in both economies; a multilateral trading facility that will further enhance the convenience of cross-border investment; and in time, the exchange of manpower to promote commerce and trade in order to strengthen ties between both capital markets and bring tangible benefits to both economies.
