The Technical Committee of IOSCO has published a final paper establishing a framework for identifying their strategic priorities for funds.

Whilst largely an experimental exercise, the results are in themselves interesting as the adopted framework has identified the following strategic priorities:

*CIS disclosure at point of sale,;

*Distribution of CIS products, commissions and fee sharing arrangements,;

*Asset pricing and CIS valuation issue;

*Hedge fund and alternative fund products ;

*Risk management aspects linked to the use of derivatives and complex strategies within CIS products.

Interestingly, “Compliance and Respect of Fiduciary Duty” trails in at the bottom of the IOSCO list.

The framework has also highlighted the need for better and more harmonised statistical data concerning CIS.
