The Securities and Exchange Board of India have issued guidelines to allow qualified foreign investors to invest in equity and debt schemes in India in relation to India foreign investment. SEBI have set out two routes for QFIs to invest. The first route is the direct route where foreign retail investors can hold MF units in demat accounts via a SEBI registered depository participant. The indirect route requires the use of foreign-based distributors or agents.
