It is being reported that inter-ministerial discussions have begun on raising the caps in the telecommunications and defence sectors. Proposals are currently being floated on increasing the India Foreign Direct Investment limit from 74% to 100% in telecommunications, and the defence limit from 26% to 49%.
The move comes amid discussions in the government on raising all India FDI caps to a minimum of 49% across the board, with higher caps in sectors in which foreign investment is enouraged.
