The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced that the following documents will be provided to clients in vernacular languages:
- Document stating the rights & obligations of stock broker, sub-broker and clients (including additional rights & obligations in case of internet / wireless technology based trading);
- Uniform Risk Disclosure Document (for all segments / exchanges); and
- Guidance Note – Do’s and Don’ts for trading on exchanges.
It is hoped that the above documents will provide clients with greater awareness of the risks involved in trading in the securities market, and bring uniformity in the documents being signed by clients as part of the account opening process.
Further to the requirements for the documents to be provided in vernacular languages, SEBI has advised stock exchanges having nationwide terminals to provide the above said documents in 15 vernacular languages.
