Amendments to the Consolidated FDI Policy of April 2014 have been announced in relation to insurance undertakings.
The current Policy provides for a 26% ownership cap applicable to foreign direct investors, foreign portfolio investors and non-resident Indians. This has been increased to 49%. Investment up to 26% will go under the automatic route, whereas beyond this it will be subject to approval.
