Further to the update of 9 August, the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission has announced that it is monitoring developments in the markets in cooperation with ESMA and the supervisory authorities of France, Italy, Spain and Belgium, which have adopted emergency measures to limit or prohibit Greece short selling. The HCMC will reassess before the end of September the prohibition of Greece short selling of shares listed in the Athens Exchange, which is in force until 7 October, upon consultation with the above mentioned supervisors taking into account in particular the conditions prevailing in the Greek market as well as in the markets in general. The HCMC shall endeavour to follow a similar approach with said supervisors with respect to extending the duration or lifting of the Greece short selling ban or to taking additional measures to the extent that this is warranted by conditions.
