The Commission has published a consultation paper seeking opinions on the implementation of Directive 2007/44/EC, which harmonises the rules applicable to EU acquisitions in financial institutions across EU member states. The consultation seeks opinion on experiences of the notification and approval process, including whether there has been a consistent approach across the EU, the definition of acting in concert, exemptions from the notification requirement, cooperation between competent authorities, time limits, assessment criteria, information required, competing bids and sanctions. The aim of the consultation is to gather responses which will provide important information on how the Directive was applied in the EU Member States and will help the Commission to prepare the report on the application of the Directive.

The consultation is open until 10th February 2012.Click on the above link for more details.
