On 15th March 2016, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) announced that in order to facilitate the handling of companies listed on the Exchange and in the interests of dealers; the stock exchange has issued Executive Order No. 42 of 2016 which amends some of the operational procedures of the listing rules.
The amendments now allow Egyptian companies listed in foreign currency to be traded in the local currency, according to specific controls and procedures. Additionally, the amendments give companies a period of five working days for the purchase of treasury shares, instead of the previous two.
