The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (‘CySEC’) has issued a consultation for the attention of Cyprus Investment Firms (‘CIFs’) on their obligations with regards to safeguarding of clients’ funds in the context of establishing adequate arrangements to safeguard clients’ rights.

The consultation covers the following:

  • The regulatory framework;
  • Requirements for holding separate clients’ accounts;
  • Transferring clients’ funds to another person;
  • Reconciliation of clients’ funds; and
  • Reporting obligations to CySEC.
