It has been reported that the Shanghai Stock Exchange is planning to roll out a new mechanism for margin trading and China short selling of shares via a centralized intermediary this year, in a move to further modernise and open up the market to traders.
It is likely that the bourse will cooperate with the country’s central securities clearing agency and China Securities Finance Corp., a firm established in October as an intermediary to facilitate the launch of the new scheme.
