Further to the update of 20 February, this is a reminder that from 2 March, investors may carry out short selling transactions in Chinese A-shares listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange through HK Stock Connect.
The list of Eligible SSE Securities for Short Selling can be found on the HKEx website, and further details of the short selling of A shares through Stock Connect can be found in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect FAQ for Investors.
To support the short-selling arrangement, HKEx will publish the following information on the HKEx website for each of the Eligible SSE Securities for Short Selling on days when there is A-share, or Northbound, trading under Stock Connect.
- Maximum number of shares available for short selling for the trading day: Before market open
- Remaining balance available for short selling: Updated every 15 minutes during trading hours
- Short selling turnover (in shares and value) for each security: After close of morning trading session and after market close
- Daily and 10-day cumulative short selling percentages: After market close
