The China Securities Regulatory Commission has announced that it has allowed fund managers to lend shares for short selling, and also intends to expand the number of stocks investors can short sell. This will include mutual fund companies and asset management businesses of securities firms.

Under current restrictions, investors are permitted to short sell from a list of 900 shares. Reportedly, the list will soon expand to 1,100.

The CSRC also announced that it will ban margin financing through unregulated accounts.
