CANADA: IIROC responds to query concerning amendments to Canada short selling rules

The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada has responded to a query concerning amendments to Canada short selling, the possibility of a consolidated version of the UMIR Marketplace Rules which were amended on 15 October 2012. The IIROC responded:

“Unfortunately we do not have a consolidated version of UMIRules that reflect the new short sale changes. Until the revised annotated UMIRules are published the following notice will have to be relied upon as reference: IIROC Notice 12-0078 Short Sales & Failed Trades (Pages 16-18 provides the amendments).“
