BULGARIA: Parliament extends ban on foreign ownership of Bulgarian land to 2020

Bulgaria`s parliament has adopted a measure that will ban foreign ownership in Bulgarian land until 2020, a move which may infringe on the country`s EU commitments. On accession to the European Union in 2007, Bulgaria had negotiated a seven-year transition period before it would allow foreigners who were not permanent residents to buy land.
