Amendments to the Australia Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989 will extend the higher notification and approval thresholds for US investors to New Zealand foreign investors on entry into effect, making it easier for New Zealand investors to invest in Australia.
The Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Amendment Regulation 2012 (No.1) (Regulation) amends the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989 to extend the higher monetary threshold for notification and approval of $1,062 million which applies for US investors to New Zealand investors.
The Regulations is expressed to commence on a date notified by the Minister in an instrument, which has not yet occurred.
