On 15th March 2016, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia (CBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to develop the capital markets of Armenia.

The MoU includes a series of joint activities to develop the capital market, in particular:

  • Developing capital market instruments;
  • Investigate problems hindering the development of the derivatives market;
  • Developing repo and money market instruments;
  • Measures related to the introduction of the promotion system by commercial banks
  • Raising awareness of activities on the capital markets both in terms of issuers, as well as investors.

The work will have an important role in developing new high-quality investment and risk hedging instruments, as well as introducing billing and accounting infrastructure that ensure the effective sales of the aforementioned tools.
