On 15th January 2017, the Comision Nacional de Valores (CNV) announced that it will allow short selling in its capital markets, in accordance with Resolution No. 3048/2017.
Short selling has been incorporated into the regulations with the aim of providing the Argentinian capital market with greater liquidity and price formation. This follows a number of reforms that have been implemented in the capital market since 2015, including, last year’s amendments ending the required holding period for foreign capital.
