The Hellenic Capital Market Commission has lifted the emergency measures on short selling, which prohibited Greece short selling in Greek bank shares, two weeks earlier than initially planned. A temporary prohibition has been in place since July 2012, with a odified ban on bank shares entering into effect in February 2013. The ban applied to the following banks:
- ALPHA BANK Α.Ε.
- ATTICA BANK S.A.
- NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE S.A.
- EUROBANK ERGASIAS S.A.
- PIRAEUS BANK S.A.
- CYPRUS POPULAR BANK PUBLIC CO LTD
- BANK OF CYPRUS PUBLIC COMPANY LTD
The ban has been lifted with effect from today, Monday 15th July 2013.
