The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) has imposed fines totalling €154,000 upon six foreign investment funds for short selling shares of Eurobank Ergasias SA.
The specific entities and the corresponding fines imposed are as below:
- CAPEVIEW AZRI 2X FUND, € 42,500
- CAPEVIEW AZRI FUND LTD, € 34,500
- CROWN CAPEVIEW SEGRAGATED PORTFOLIO, € 24,000
- CAPEVIEW GFS-MAP TRUST, € 21,000
- HIGHMARK LONG SHORT EQUITY 6, € 17,500
- CROWN MANAGED ACCOUNTS SPC € 14,500
The above fines were issued for breaches of Article 12 of Regulation 236/2012, of the European Parliament and of the Council on short selling and certain aspects of credit default, which provides the specific conditions upon which a natural or legal person may enter a short sale of a share admitted to trading on a trading venue.
