The Finnish securities regulator Fin-FSA has published details of administrative fines which can be imposed for breach of the EU Short Selling Regulation.

Failure to make a notification or publication of a net short position as required under the EU Short Selling Regulation can result in a fine ranging from EUR500 for natural persons up to EUR 100,000 for legal persons where the lack of the information has had a material impact on FIN-FSA`s or investors` access to information. Similar financial penalties apply for breaching of the prohibitions on uncovered Finland short selling under the Regulation.
