EUROPEAN UNION: Outcome of the European Parliament’s Proceedings on Money Market Funds

Further to the update on the Draft Regulation on the Money Market Funds, the Council of the European Union has published an information note on the outcome of the European Parliament’s proceedings on the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on Money Market Funds.

On the 29^th April 2015, the draft law, already approved by the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, was voted on by Parliament as a whole to consolidate its position for three-way talks on the draft with member states and the Commission.

The European Parliament adopted only the amendment of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), the text of which is annexed to Information Note. The vote on the legislative resolution was postponed to a later session, thereby not closing the first reading. The matter was then referred back to the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
