The European Commission has published Frequently Asked Questions on the Public Consultation on Short Selling and Credit Default Swaps. Topics covered include the reasons for planning a legislative initiative in the area, whether the consultation includes policy options to restrict naked EU short selling, emergency powers envisaged for competent authorities, and whether the consultation envisages a ban on naked CDS.

The consultation is open for public comment until 10 July 2010.
