The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) has today published its updated version of measures undertaken by its member regarding the practice of short selling. It is intended that the list will be continually updated. On 22nd September 2008 CESR published a list detailing each of its member’s actions regarding short selling, in particular within the financial industry. The aim of the process was to adopt, or to begin adopting measures within members’ respective markets to limit short selling or to at least introduce stringent requirements or further reporting obligations by firms to supervisory authorities on short-selling. The updated statement paper provides actual statements or links to statements published by CESR members in explanation of their actions.
