It is being reported that the China Securities Regulatory Commission has said for the first time that overseas managers would be able to acquire majority stakes in Chinese fund companies.
No exact implementation date has been issued with the CRSC saying only that restrictions on foreign ownership would be relaxed “when the time is right”.
China also indicated that it wanted to extend “mutual recognition” of mutual funds beyond Hong Kong to overseas markets.
