The Guernsey Financial Services Commission has confirmed that the “the Investor Protection (Designated Countries and Territories) (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Regulations, 2017” (“the regulations”) entered into force on the 17th October.

The regulations grants firms in Guernsey exemptions to licensing requirements provided their main place of business is Guernsey.

Under s29(1)(cc) of the Protection of Investors (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law 1987, a firm with which conducts its main business in one of the jurisdictions listed, does not need a licence provided that certain requirements, including the completion of a simple web based notification form, are met.
