The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has published a Notice and Request for Comment regarding the pre-filing by Aequitas Innovations Inc. to establish a new equities exchange in Canada. Aequitas is proposing to operate an exchange to trade securities of issuers listed on Aequitas as well as securities listed on other recognised exchanges in Canada.
OSC are seeking comment specific aspects of the Aequitas proposal which have been filed as part of the pre-filing. Comments have been requested in order to help inform staff and gather any new information and input from stakeholders in advance of any filing by Aequitas of an application for recognition as an exchange. In order to receive recognition to operate as an exchange, Aequitas would be required to first file an application with the Commission, for which there would be an additional public comment period.
The comment period is open until 27th September 2013.
