On 21st January 2016, the Bourse de Montreal announced that the Rules and Policies Committee had approved amendments to articles 6101, 6213, 6369, 6375, 6653, 6655, 6661, 6662, 6672, 6680, 6816, 6819 of Rule Six, to articles 15002, 15819 of Rule Fifteen, to the Procedures applicable to the execution of strategies involving options and to the Procedures applicable to the execution of strategies involving futures and options on futures, in order to update their content.

The amendments are part of a plan to modernise the Rules of the Bourse. The purpose of the amendments is to update the Rules so they will clearly and accurately reflect current practices and the Bourse’s electronic trading environment.

The amendments are to the following areas, some of which have little to no impact on the market:

  • Taping of Transactions
  • Market Order
  • Allocation of Tradeable Orders
  • Variation to Position and Exercise Limits
  • Report of Uncovered Short Positions
  • Recording of Telephone Conversations
  • Procedures for Consulting Recordings
  • Allocation of Exercise Notices
  • Ex-Pit Transfers of Existing Futures Contracts

The rules enter into effect as of 22nd January 2016.
