CANADA: MX Announces Final Amendments to Bourse de Montreal Position Limit File Publications

On 28^th May 2021, the Montréal Exchange (MX) announced that it sought feedback from Approved Participants and Foreign Approved Participants (“Participants” collectively) regarding amendments to the position limit file publications (Circular 075-21). 

The amendments to the position limit files have been finalized following feedback from Participants. The Division will begin publishing a single new file containing all position limits for all Listed Products (the “New Consolidated File”), in Annex 1, for all publications beginning mid-June and will cease publishing the current position limit files (the “Legacy Files”), in Annex 2, by September 30, 2021. 

The New Consolidated File will be retrievable from a new URL address from mid-June and the Legacy Files will continue to be retrievable from the usual URL addresses until September 30, 2021. 

Additionally, the Division advises all Participants that the new position limits pursuant to the amendments of the Rules of the Bourse (the “Rules”) will be published in mid-June and become effective on June 30, 2021, after the markets have closed.
