The Jamaican Financial Services Commission has Issued a Consultation Paper that examines the Appropriate Levels of Single and Group Counterparty Exposure Limits.

This Consultation was formulated in response to the results of the 2008 global financial crisis which was partly caused by the existence of large counterparty exposures amongst key financial institutions.

The Consultation paper proposes ways to bolster, on an ongoing basis, the legal and operational frameworks governing the preservation of financial system stability.

It is hoped that changes made as a result of the Consultation will bring Jamaica into line with International Exposure Procedures.
