ITALY: Temporary prohibition on Italy short selling in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A.

The Italian securities market regulator Consob has announced today (2nd April) a prohibition of Italy short selling in BMPS shares (ISIN code: IT0001334587) on the MTA, a regulated market organised and managed by Borsa Italiana S.p.A., under Article 23 of the EU Short Selling Regulation, effective from 2.30 pm of April 2, 2013 until the end of the trading day of April 3, 2013.

The above-mentioned prohibition does not apply to the activity of market making, as defined by Article 2(1)(k) of the Regulation.
