The Central Bank of Ireland has announced the end of the ban on Ireland short selling of certain financial instruments, which has been in place since September 2008, from midnight on 30 December 2011. The Ireland short selling ban had been in place regarding shares of `the Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks Plc, Irish Life and Permanent Plc and Anglo Irish Bank Corporation Plc, but at the date of lifting of the measures, the ban extended only to the Bank of Ireland. The Central Bank has confirmed that Section 10 of the Market Abuse Rules have been deleted, including the requirement to disclose net short positions.
