A group of five major bodies representing hedge fund managers and regulators have brought together their work on sound practices for hedge fund managers in order to allow users to compare their respective core principles.

The Hedge Fund Matrix is a joint initiative of AIMA, HFSB, IOSCO, MFA and the Asset Managers’ Committee of the US PWG. The Matrix includes information on: creating and managing a hedge fund management business; the investment process and portfolio risk management; portfolio administration and operational controls; raising capital and investor relations; and hedge fund structure and organisation.
The aim of the exercise is to promote convergence between the various sets of standard as a first step towards harmonisation of existing hedge fund industry sound practices to all stakeholders – specifically hedge fund industry practitioners, institutional investors, policy makers and regulatory authorities.
