The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) updated their FAQs on Foreign Investment in India on 13 February 2017.

The FAQs provide answers to common queries posed by interested parties. However, the RBI stipulates that when conducting a transaction, the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) and the Regulations made or directions issued thereunder should be referred to.

The relevant principal regulations for foreign investment in India are the Foreign Exchange Management (Transfer or Issue of Security by a Person Resident outside India) Regulations, 2000.
