The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has revised the limits laid down in Authorised Dealer Category-I (AD1) of Schedule 5 to the Foreign Exchange Management Regulations.
The limits for investments by foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in Government securities, last updated on 30 September 2016, have been amended as follows:
- The limits for investment by FPIs in Central Government Securities and State Development Loans (SDLs) for the quarter April-June 2017 are proposed to be increased by Rs. 110 bn (to Rs. 2310 bn) and Rs. 60 bn (to Rs. 270bn) respectively; and
- The limits for long-term investors remaining unutilised at the end of March 2017 will be released for investment under the general category in April 2017.
