The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has released the latest edition of the consolidated India FDI policy, which incorporates the changes made in the regulations over the past year. The main changes to the guidelines are as follows:

  • Up to 51% inflows of FDI into multi-brand retail sector is permitted
  • Pakistan citizens, nationals and companies are permitted to invest in India
  • A 49% stake by foreign airlines in domestic carriers is permitted
  • FDI cap in broadcasting services increased to 74%
  • 49% foreign investment in power trading exchanges permitted
  • Foreign investment ceiling in Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs) increased to 74%
