It has been reported that the Indian government is likely to take up as many as 49 proposals of India foreign direct investment (FDI) at meeting of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) headed by Economic Affairs Secretary, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 9 May.

With an aim at increasing India FDI, the government has been easing and streamlining the procedure for India foreign investment and also recently allowed India FIIs to invest up to 23 per cent in commodity exchanges through automatic route.
