The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs has amended rules on India foreign investment to permit up to 100% foreign direct investment in limited liability partnerships. The levels of ownership in individual LLPs will depend on foreign investment restrictions in the relevant sectors which are imposed by the government. Limited liability partnerships with any level of India foreign direct investment will not be permitted to carry out activities in agriculture or plantation, real estate or print media. In addition, they will not be permitted to make any downstream investment.
