The Indian Department of Policy and Promotion, has released the new Consolidated India Foreign Direct Investment Policy. The new policy came into effect on 1 October and will expire on the 31 March. The new policy introduces the following measures:- FDI in construction in the education sector and the construction of old-age homes has been exempted from the normal restrictions placed on FDI- The limit for foreign investment in Terrestrial Broadcasting/FM radio has been set at 26%- FDI in apiculture is permitted up to 100% via the automatic route- The provision on FDI in industrial parks have been expanded in to include R&D in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences.
