Media reports are indicating that the Government of India will issue fresh clarifications this week on India foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail, nine months after the policy was announced.
Foreign retailers will be allowed to include only processed food items in the mandatory minimum 30% sourcing requirement from small enterprises, as per the fresh set of clarifications being contemplated on sourcing and investment in back-end infrastructure.
DIPP is also expected to spell out that foreign retailers will be able to source from the entire country, even from states where FDI in multi-brand retail is not allowed.
This information will be updated as further details become available.
