In response to a query on Iceland`s rules on Iceland short selling, the FME has replied as follows:
“Here is a link to an unofficial translation of the order of the Financial Supervisory Authority (FME), dated 7th of October 2008, to limit short selling activities.
FME did not publish a press release or decision when the emergency measures were lifted. The Icelandic press release, dated 7th of October 2008, included the date when the measures where lifted i.e. from 7th of October 2008 until 16th of January 2009. Unfortunatelly the latter date was not mentioned in the English press release.
Finally, the EU short selling regulation has not been implemented into Icelandic law. We can not, at this point in time, inform on if or when it will be implemented.”
