The SFC has updated the Frequently Asked Questions on Hong Kong short selling position reporting, to address some practical questions recently raised by some market participants in relation to reporting by partnerships. In brief, the questions raised were related to the operational concerns associated with the requirement to provide the list of partners for reporting by a partnership. Noting that such a requirement could potentially be an onerous compliance burden for partnerships that have a large number of partners, henceforth, the SFC will not mandate such information be provided at registration but to be provided upon SFC’s request. The updates can be found in questions A1 and D1.
